Where is the Friendship Center located?

2711 W. Lawrence Avenue, near the intersection with N. Washtenaw. The nearest CTA station is the Rockwell Brown Line.

Can I volunteer?

We do have a need for volunteers, though we cannot accommodate large groups. Learn more about volunteering.

Volunteers are also needed throughout the year to help with special events, larger group volunteer sessions at the Greater Chicago Food Depository, food drives, general maintenance and repairs, pickup and delivery, and other opportunities.

Join our email list and follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for the most up-to-date information and needs.

You can find information on upcoming events here.

What kinds of things can I donate?

We accept the following items if they are not expired and/or in good, clean condition:

– Shelf-stable food
– Baby food and formula
– Gently used seasonal clothing
– Household goods
– Books and toys
– Pet food and pet toys/supplies for the Friendship Pet Food Pantry, a program of the Friendship Center

A good rule of thumb: If you wouldn’t give it to a friend, we shouldn’t give it to our clients. Thanks!

Items we do not accept:

– Electronics
– Appliances
– Furniture
– Used baby bottles and teething toys
– Car seats
– Anything that is soiled or needs repair

I have items to donate. When can I drop them off?

Great question! You can find drop-off hours on the Contact Us page.

What is the Friendship Center’s mission?

We are committed to making our storefront food pantry a reliable, safe, and friendly environment where members of our community can select healthy food that meets their needs, and we are committed to connecting people with resources to improve the quality of their lives.
